Frequently Asked Questions

+ Our Difference

All of RBG’s day tours or multi-day trips are low ratio, small group programs designed to help you maximize your ski touring experience in Revy. Our tours offer the complete experience by including unequaled professional guiding in a variety of interesting terrain, a dedicated "tenure" for heli-assisted ski touring and overnight hut trips, and dialed logistics and options for when things get weird.

+ OUr safety minded approach

Our small, licenced, ACMG certified and insured team of employees has the singular focus of delivering a safe, fun and educational trip or course for your private group. Since 2016 our team has focused solely on delivering these custom touring trips.

+ Is an RBG trip for me?

Our tours are ideal for riders with some solid backcountry experience and strong downhill skiing ability. Our guests prioritize flexibility, creative thinking and making the right moves to maximize time in the mountains.

Most of our skiers visit us in Revelstoke yearly and many have skied in other backcountry destinations like Japan, Chamonix, Alaska, Lofoten, Jackson and Silverton. Our people typically own their own transceivers and touring equipment and generally ski tour or splitboard regularly in their home areas.

+ How fit do I need to be?

Skiers and splitboarders should be comfortable ascending an absoulte minumum of 600m/~2000ft at an easy to moderate “all day pace” and look forward to ripping interesting terrain and feeling confident about their downhill ability. Due to the seriousness of the terrain and the always deep snow, downhill ability is extremely important.

+ When should I plan my trip?

The snow is almost always excellent in Revelstoke -> Below are some seasonal generalizations. Note that our private hut is situated at 2000m elevation (treeline) and generally has the best conditions available even when other destinations (RMR resort or Rogers Pass) are sub-optimal.

December- Mid January: Days are short and typically filled with deep cold snow. Historically, Revelstoke is one of the best places for early season powder skiing with excellent coverage and regular storm skiing. Sunny days tend to be scarce. The mountains are typically less crowded and lodge space and local accommodations are more readily available.

Mid January-Early March: Heart of the season with typically deep snowpack (2-4 meters of settled snow) and reliable powder skiing conditions. Custom February private group programs mostly book up to 1 year in advance.

Mid March- Early April: Early spring conditions with equal chances at sunny alpine conditions with excellent snow or spring powder skiing. Longer days perfect for those big spring tours.

+ When should I reserve spaces?

We work hard to stay small. Our trips sell out early and cancellations are rare. Single day trips are offered on a limited basis- in season.

+ Does RBG have an age requirement?

Yes, our minimum age is 19.

+ What doesn't RBG Offer?

Our team does not offer heli-skiing or cat skiing (multiple drops and pickups using a helicopter or snowcat) nor do we regularly offer "freeride" or off-piste guiding.
